Version 0.9
If you want a witty tagline, wait for Version 1.0
About
This is it, I’m finally putting a weblog out there. If it sticks (and I can have a month where I can actually hold on to some of my money) I’ll actually get a domain. Until then, Version 0.9 is an even more appropriate name than usual.
The name Version 0.9 comes from a job I had a few years ago where I pumped out a series of (mostly) one-off Perl scripts. (Yes, I know Perl. I even get paid to use it. Scary, isn’t it?) I labeled each of them Version 0.9 to indicate their rough nature. Occasionally, somebody would find one useful and even ask me to add to it. So I’d have version 0.9.1, then maybe 0.9.2, and so on. I think I did have one script that made it to 1.0, but the vast majority of them wallowed at 0.9.
My name is P.J. Smith. (In case you’re wondering, male, and yes, my last name really is Smith.) I’m a 30-something programmer. I live on the outskirts of Charlotte, NC.
I’m sure I’ll write about technology here. Besides that, whatever grabs me, but sports, music, and science fiction should show up quite a bit. I’ll try to throw in a dash of humor. I try not to take life too seriously. It’s only life, after all.
